WEEK 8 - KISD FOOTBALL DISTRICT 17 5A
Recently I have had several people ask me why I stopped writing a weekly football blog since the Hurricane IKE. My simple answer is that the schedule has been changed and I did not want to tell people about game scheduled to be played on a given Friday while the actual game was being played on the Thursday of that week. This happened last week with the Seven Lakes vs. Katy Taylor which was played at Rice stadium. The newspaper and schedules all said Friday evening but as I found out from my son the game was played Thursday evening as he saw the varsity leave for the game. My son goes to Seven Lakes.
Friday Oct 17 Katy ( 3-2,1-0) plays Seven Lakes ( 2-3,0-1) at Rhodes Stadium 7:00 PM
Katy after a shaky start to the season has now won 3 games in a row and appears to be on a real roll. Unfiortuately, look for Katy to easily win this game as Seven Lakes makes too many mistakes and turnovers and the coaches continue to make very questionable calls and decisions. Anthony Kendrick of Seven Lakes continues his excellent play as he has caught 19 passes this season for 7 TD's. Vernon Jeffries leads Katy's ground attack with 426 yards this season and Katy will grind out the win by running right at the Seven Lakes defense.
Saturday Oct 18 Katy Taylor ( 4-2,0-1) plays Mayde Creek ( 4-1, 1-0) at Rhodes Stadium 1:00 PM
Mayde Creek is lead by QB Vaughn Moore who has passed for 635 yards this season and 6 TD's. Matde Creek groung game is lead by Devown Hines who has 360 yards this season on 50 carries. Katy Taylor's QH Lee Rodgers has thrown for 822 yards and 6 TD's and 6 INT's this saeson while running back Steven Sartory has gianed 410 yards. Look for this to be a good game that will be decided by 3 points or less.
Saturday Oct 18 Cinco Ranch ( 5-1, 1-0) plays Morton Ranch ( 5-1,0-1) at Rhodes Stadium 7:00 PM
Cinco Ranch is still one of the better teams in the whole area and while Morton Ranch has been the true surprise team this year Cinco Ranch offensive firepower is too much for them. Look for Cinco to win this game in a big way. Morton Ranch has nothing to be ashamed of as they have had a really good year after only winning one game their first two varsity seasons. CR QB Shane Ros has thrown for 918 yards this season and 9 TD's and only 2 INT's. CR running back Adam Hirtz has gained 744 yards and scored 7 TD's which puts him 5 th among running backs for yards gained so far this season. MR running back Michael Venson has gained 841 yards and scored 11 TD's and puts him second in local area yardage so far among running backs.
GO TO A GAME AND ENJOY YOURSELF.... HAVE NO WORRIES AND FORGET ABOUT THE RECESSION AND THE STOCK MARKET ... those problems will still be there on monday morning!!!!!
